Fall is here and with that comes the STCNE annual Earth Dog event in Harwinton CT.
This year we had several new faces, Scotties and their owners, among the regulars with potential new members for the club.
Veteran dogs worked the tunnels impressing judges and spectators with their speed and agility. There were also opportunities for dogs and their handlers new to the sport to participate. One of the judges, Trudy Kawaii, provided great lessons to handlers in how to work with the dogs natural instincts to encourage the desired behavior. Also importantly not to discourage the desired behavior. If you are new to the sport you will not be accustomed to seeing your four legged friend come face to face with a caged rat in an underground burrow. (Dog and dog owners instincts may collide at this juncture.)
Thanks again to Judges, John & Lucy Mcnabney. Thanks also to the STCNE volunteers who helped with arrangements, food and refreshments making this event a success.
